History of the SCBC

The Southern Caribbean Billfish Circuit was founded on January 18th, 2008 at the Spice Island Billfish Tournament in Grenada when a group enthusiastic fisher folk representing the Six Major International Billfish Tournaments of the Southern Caribbean got together aboard the Sport fishing boat Grey Ghost of St. Lucia to hammer out the plans and set the rules for the creation of the SCBC.

Present at the founding meeting of the SCBC were President of the Spice Island Billfish Tournament / IGFA Rep Grenada Mr. Richard Mc Intyre, President of the Tobago Game Fishing Tournament / IGFA Rep Tobago Mr. Gerard de Silva, Committee Member of the Tobago Game Fishing Tournament Mr. Andrew Llanos, President of the TTGFA/Marlin Madness Tournament/IGFA Rep Trinidad Mr. Christopher Mouttet, Committee Member of the TTGFA/Marlin Madness Tournament Trinidad and Tobago Mr. Reginald Mac Lean, Committee Member of the Barbados Game Fishing Association Mr. Bruce Lambert, President of the St. Lucia game Fishing Tournament/ IGFA Rep St. Lucia Mr. Bernard Johnson, President of the Martinique Billfish Tournament Mr. Boris Blanchard, and Secretary for the meeting Ms. Roberta Tromboni.

All SCBC Events follow the rules laid down by the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) and promote the conservation ethics of The Billfish Foundation (TBF). The SCBC committee has agreed to promote the same ethical practices exercised by the IGFA and TBF through conservation and education and to promote the sport fishing industry on a wider international scale.
